Geographical linguistics (or dialectology) and Sociolinguistics has a long tradition: languages and varieties have been analyzed in the last centuries. However, recent decades have seen a rapid increase in insights into linguistic structure as well as in geographic technology, and those two have not always been completely matched to each other, so that one might feel that current linguistic maps leave things to be desired for on both ends. This conference promotes the study of the acquisition and development of language in monolingual or multilingual contexts, with particular attention to the acquisition of Basque and Spanish languages, and the relationships of language with other educational, pragmatic and biological processes.
We invite the submission of abstracts on the relation between linguistics variation and education, including but not limited to:
- Analysis of linguistic data with geographic features
- Analysis of linguistic data with sociolinguistic features
- Visualization of linguistic data on geographic maps
-Teaching the linguistic variation in the school
- Acquisition of the linguistic variation in the school
- Discourse and pragmatic development
- Development in bilingual and multilingual contexts
- New methodological approaches in language development studies
Each abstract for the presentations should contain a concise statement of (i) the research question, (ii) methods, (iii) results, and (iv) a conclusion. Up to 3 references may be added and will not be included in the word count. To make the reviewing procedure fully anonymous, do not include references by any of the authors involved.
Submit an abstract of maximally 400 words by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before May 15, 2018. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by May 30, 2018. Additional information is available on the conference website. For specific questions, please contact the organizing committee at the following e-mail addresses: email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org
The full-texts of all communications will be published in a document with a ISBN number in accordance with the academic standards for scientific publications. With this aim, during the conference, each speaker will be given the style sheet that should be followed to adjust the text to the editing standards. Each speaker must send the text adjusted to the editing standards to email@example.com, before September 30, 2018.
